UMARELA Fever 2010

UMARELA 2010 was so massive and fantastic this year, my video had to be cut in two pieces to post on Youtube. You had to be there. Energy was high.

I'm not a big fan of lap dogs but this little guy was super cute. It was probably just the outfit.


These torches looked very cool after nightfall in an other hour.


For at least a while, Youtube has disabled the audio but let's get it up here anyways.

Heading for the starting point.







Alright, we made it to the starting point. There's a little time to mingle and check out the costumes but it won't be long now.










This was probably the safest place in the universe with so many superheroes amongst us.




Good thing too because a few villains were lurking about.


Never underestimate the might of the Power Puff Girls.





Somebody sure is excited to have escaped that nasty Matrix universe. It must be time to go.

A Walk at La Bocana

Rainy season has long past and I've never seen La Bocana looking so good. It's bigger than ever. Where you used to have to climb rocks to get to the other coves, you can just walk wherever you please. I don't know about high tide but maybe.



































That´s the short end of the beach. Time to saunter on over to the river in the other direction.







I wondered if that big rock would still look like the reclining head of a king when I got closer.

It did.





There's the mouth of Rio Copalita up ahead.







Heading back.



Hidden until recently, this rock couldn't have been too far below the surface. Surfers beware.

I saw the construction of the new outdoor artisan market for the first time that day. Things change so quickly. Two weeks later, it was up and running with a few restaurants and a row of showers and changing rooms. Very nice. La Bocana is becoming very upscale.

Day of the Dead at UMAR Huatulco

I don´t think last Friday was the official Day of the Dead but it was close enough for UMAR Huatulco.


Students dressed in costumes and constructed traditional altars. The Tourism department served Oaxacan hot chocolate, quite possibly the best on the planet. The line was long but swift.
